Maintaining Sustainable Groundwater in the
Bear Valley Basin
Groundwater Is an Important Water Source for our Community
During a normal year, groundwater provides over 35 percent of Southern California's drinking water. Effective use of local groundwater basins is an important component of the region's water supply plan.
Several agencies have partnered together to develop a Groundwater Sustainability Plan (GSP) for the Bear Valley Basin in compliance with the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act. The GSP is now under development and is scheduled for completion in the Spring of 2021, with ample opportunities for stakeholders within and surrounding the Basin to participate in its development.
